Olongapo City, Philippines – Dr. Zero Mella conducts the first of a series of lectures targeted on Emergency Care. His first lecture was targeted on the difference between traditional Basic Life Support (BLS) instructions conducted for lay persons and the recommendations given by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). “There are areas that are lacking but I do not question the present BLS instruction as they still save lives,” said Dr. Mella. The primary purpose of the lecture was mainly to give insights as to why the steps are important and stresses that in a hospital setting BLS and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) can be life-saving if done willingly and in a proper way. He also points out the importance of a well-trained rescuer as the key ingredient to saving lives. The series of lectures will be conducted every Monday. Attendees were employees of Afable Medical Center.
